Jackie Clancy

"Don't think about how you're going to do it. Just jump in."

From transforming gold mining tailings into a thriving herbal garden to educating others on herbal medicine and connection with plants; Jackie Clancy's journey is rooted in Dawson and full of curiosity, passion and community. Now as she begins to transition to a new chapter, she continues to share her knowledge and remind us that you should always: "Follow what you enjoy doing and the rest will follow."

Rockpile Remedies

For our latest episode of Klondike Cornerstones, Jackie Clancy of Rockpile Remedies lets us know just how one finds themselves with a thriving herbal garden on top of what really is considered ‘rocks and more rocks.’ Tailings from Dawson’s dredging days have an interesting side effect when mixed with Midnight Sun - it can foster a unique heat and drainage system that is considered extraordinary for the North of 60 climate. And for Jackie, she’s created an education-based space and programming to further teach others the healing effects of plants that often can just grow in your backyard.

Being a teacher by profession, Jackie has learned that child-like wonder can reach all ages when placed into a space that allows for curiosity to take over. She also creates her own herb-based medicinal products that are rooted in her experience as a wild crafter. Having taught hundreds (including three of her own children) of the benefits of wild crafting, Jackie is ready to head into a new chapter of Rockpile Remedies: the benefit of slowing down and taking a breath for yourself.

“Just a little bit more freedom, a little less responsibility, and still passionate to teach as many people as I can to connect with plants, to heal themselves.”
